One of the places we stopped at in Idaho was Hobo Cedar Grove.
Hobo Cedar Grove Botanical Area is located near Clarkia in the St. Joe National Forest of Idaho in the northwestern United States. The grove is a 240-acre area containing old growth Western Red Cedar estimated to be 500 years old. The upper area contains Western Red Cedar surrounded by Oregon boxwood. This grove was declared a World Heritage Site in 1980.
We managed to find a hidee hole to put the trailer at and dry camp. We had an amazing view from our little domain! After setting up camp, we headed to the grove. This place was kind of neat! Being from Northern California we are used to huge trees. These trees didn't come close to our redwoods but they were still impressive! The trail is a nice one to stroll along. There are plenty of benches along the way to take a load off.

Hobo Cedar Grove is situated over a vast spring system enabling these trees to get to the size that they are. If you look at the photo below you will see Mike. That will give you some reference as to the size of these trees!

Due to the wet conditions, there is an abundance of little cascades and fungi.
All in all, it is a nice place to stop and check things out. We had heard there was some old logging equipment in the forest but we were never able to locate it.
DIRECTIONS:
From Clarkia on State Highway 3 in Idaho follow Forest Road 301 to Forest Road 321. Follow Forest Road 321 to Forest Road 3357. Follow Forest Road 3357 to the trailhead.
